The Work I Do Begins with Deep Listening

As a somatic yoga therapist, doula, and lifelong student of the body, I created Twisted Willow Studio as a space for healing, movement, and coming home to yourself.

Hello hello - it’s so lovely to meet you.

I’m Livi Peters (De Rooy), the founder of Twisted Willow Studio, nestled in the quiet beauty of Port Alberni on Vancouver Island, B.C.

I’ve spent over a decade guiding clients and students through practices that reconnect them with their bodies, their breath, and the parts of themselves that long to feel again. Through somatic yoga therapy, bodywork, and personalized support, I hold space for gentle transformation — the kind that begins by tuning inward.

My Journey

A lover of knowledge and movement, I began formal training over 17 years ago and haven’t stopped learning since. I continue to invest in ongoing education so I can stay attuned, informed, and deeply present for the people I work with.

Through every modality I’ve studied — from yoga and personal training to doula care and somatic therapy — one truth keeps surfacing:
We need space to listen to ourselves.
To feel what’s ready to be felt. To soften the patterns we’ve carried. And to remember that we’re not here to perform — we’re here to belong.

What It’s Like to Work With Me

Every person who walks through the doors of Twisted Willow is met with presence and care. Whether you're joining for a one-on-one session or a group class, your experience is personalized to support your nervous system, your needs, and your inner nature.

If you’re curious to learn more, I’d love to connect with you directly. Let’s chat about how we can co-create a practice that supports you.

Beyond the Studio

When I’m not on my mat or in session, you’ll likely find me:

  • Adventuring along the coast or into the forest

  • Elbows deep in clay at the pottery wheel

  • Tending to my garden

  • Laughing with my husband, chasing after our little one, or cuddling our fur babies

This work is not just what I do — it’s part of how I live.

Why I Built Twisted Willow

Twisted Willow was never just about creating a yoga space.
It was about building a sanctuary. A place where people could come to feel again — to soften, unravel, and remember their wholeness.

I hope, in your own way, you find exactly that here.
